    In 2004, the Center for Human Rights (CHR) began a reorientation that reaffirmed the center's historic responsibilities and signaled the start of proactive initiatives to education and raise awareness about human rights and equal employment opportunity issues.  By engaging in educational endeavors, CHR seeks to reduce complaints, improve campus climate, improve best practices, and help secure a diverse workforce that can meet the needs of the University.
     
    Educational Offerings include:

    • Search Committee Trainings
    • Equal Opportunity Issues for Supervisors 
     
    CHR staff will work with departments/units to design a class or educational offering that is responsive to the needs of the participants.  Contact CHR at 509.335.8288 to take advantage of these free educational opportunities.
     
    CHR also has a library of training and educational videos available for check out.

    Preventing Sexual Harassment Training

     
    WSU has partnered with New Media Learning, LLC, to offer an online training course on Preventing Sexual Harassment.  CHR recommends that all WSU students, faculty and staff take this course.  A certificate is issued to each user upon completion of the course.
     
    Course editions are available for:
    • Faculty
    • Supervisory
    • Medical Supervisory
    • Non-supervisory
    • Student
    • Guest (visitors not employed by WSU)
     
    By special arrangement with New Media Learning, WSU has obtained authorization for small employers located in the State of Washington, with not more than fifty (50) employees in total, to use this program free for employee training.  Larger employers may use this program for demonstration and evaluation, but must obtain a license from New Media Learning for instructional use.
